Privacy Policy — TV Idea AutoRenamer
Effective date: May 22, 2026
This privacy policy describes how the TV Idea AutoRenamer Chrome extension ("the Extension") handles information. By installing or using the Extension, you agree to the practices described here.
Summary
The Extension does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. It performs all of its work locally inside your browser. It contacts no remote servers and uses no analytics or tracking of any kind.
What the Extension does
When you click the "Grab this chart" button on a published TradingView idea page, the Extension:
- Reads the title of the idea from the current page.
- Stores that title temporarily on your device using Chrome's built-in
chrome.storage.localAPI, along with a timestamp. - After TradingView redirects you to your chart workspace, the Extension reads the stored title and uses it to rename your new chart layout from "Unnamed" to the idea's title.
- Deletes the stored title from local storage as soon as the rename completes, or automatically after two minutes if the rename does not happen.
This is the only data the Extension handles.
What data is processed
| Item | Source | Where it lives | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| The chart idea's title (a short text string) | The TradingView page you are viewing | Local browser storage on your device (chrome.storage.local) | Until the rename is performed, or two minutes, whichever comes first |
No other information is read, stored, or transmitted.
What the Extension does not do
- It does not collect or transmit any personal information.
- It does not contact any server, API, or third-party service from within its own code.
- It does not use cookies, analytics, telemetry, or tracking pixels.
- It does not read, store, or process passwords, payment information, browsing history, financial information, or health information.
- It does not access pages other than
tradingview.com. - It does not sell or share any user data with anyone, ever. There is no data to sell.
Third-party links (affiliate disclosure)
The Extension's toolbar popup displays a link to The Crypto Code (thecryptocode.com), a third-party service. This is an affiliate link: if you choose to click it and subsequently sign up or purchase, the developer may receive a commission at no additional cost to you. The link contains a static referral code that identifies this Extension as the referrer; it does not contain any information about you.
The Extension itself does not transmit any information to The Crypto Code or any other third party. However, if you click the link, your browser will navigate to The Crypto Code's site, and that site may set cookies, log your IP address, or otherwise process information about you according to its own privacy policy — not this one. The Extension has no control over and accepts no responsibility for the practices of third-party sites.
You are never required to click the link in order to use the Extension's core feature (the automatic layout renaming).
Permissions and why they are requested
The Extension requests the minimum permissions required to function:
storage— used only to temporarily hand the chart title from the TradingView idea page to the TradingView chart page on the same device. The stored value never leaves your browser.- Host permission for
https://www.tradingview.com/*— required so the Extension can run on TradingView pages to read the idea title and perform the rename. The Extension does not run on, and has no access to, any other website.
No other permissions are requested.
Compliance with Google's Limited Use requirements
Consistent with the Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies and the Limited Use requirements:
- The Extension uses the information it accesses only to provide the user-facing feature described above (automatically renaming a chart layout the user just created).
- The Extension does not transfer user data to third parties, except as necessary to provide the feature on the user's own device. In practice, no transfer occurs at all.
- The Extension does not use user data for serving advertisements.
- The Extension does not allow humans to read the data, except (a) with the user's explicit consent, (b) when necessary for security purposes, or (c) when required by law. In practice, no humans ever see the data because it never leaves the user's device.
- The Extension does not use or transfer data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
Children's privacy
The Extension is not directed to children under 13. It does not collect any information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy is ever updated, the new version will replace this page and the Effective date at the top will change. Material changes will be noted in the Extension's listing on the Chrome Web Store.
